A cave with stunning beauty comparable to Quang Binh Province's Son Doong Cave, has been discovered in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan.

The cave was detected by Nguyen Tuan Linh, director of a private Vietnamese travel firmed named Mr Linh Adventures when he led a recent trekking tour for a group of foreign visitors in Ba Be District.

Mr. Linh reported to local authorities as well as the provincial people's committee about the discovery with proposals to survey the caves for tourism.

After that, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism set up a team for the preliminary survey in the cave situated at Tham Phay Mountain, Hoang Tri District.

There is only a tortuous and rough road to the cave. The cave entrance is quite hidden from the view, so it is difficult to detect.

Walking around 1 km inside the cave, the team found two branches. One is quite plain and has streams with clear water, running about 1.5km along the left side of the mountain. The other runs along the right side of the mountain; however, its length has yet to be defined.

Provincial authorities said that the province will soon invite cave experts to survey the cave.
