This is the busiest time of the year as local farmers are working from dawn to dusk to prepare their flower and bonsai plants for sale in the run-up to Tet which has around two weeks to go.

Since 2014, Tan Quy Dong Ward has set up a club of tour guides to serve travellers better. The tour guides are mostly tourism students and local residents. Four-wheel electric vehicles are always available there to transport visitors.

Sa Dec flower village is home to some 2,300 households that chiefly earn a living by growing flowers and ornamental trees for sale. Last year, the village’s flower and bonsai tree area were estimated at 500 hectares with more than 2,000 different varieties.

Sa Dec City, the largest supplier of flowers to southern provinces, has signed a memorandum of understanding to co-operate with the Netherlands’ Emmen City for hi-tech agricultural development. The city has also called on investments in these projects as well as those in the tourism sector.
