Hanoi Flower Festival opening
  • | dtinews.vn | December 30, 2009 04:01 PM

The Hanoi Flower Festival opens tonight, December 30, but preparation works for it have already attracted huge attention from people, especially the young ones.

Since this morning, streets leading to Hoan Kiem Lake in the centre of Hanoi have been blocked. All sorts of flowers have been brought to the area.

Extensive floral designs decorate traditional Hanoi figures, from dragons and Khue Van Pavilion to Long Bien Bridge, trams and cyclos.

The noticeable presence of peach flowers and kumquat trees remind people that the traditional New Year, or "Tet" is approaching, while imported tulips add a new flavour to this year's festival.
