Hanoi tourist sites reopen after anti-pandemic measures

Many tourist sites in Hanoi have welcomed visitors again from today, May 14, after a long closure as part of Covid-19 prevention efforts.

The places include the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Hoa Lo Prison and Uncle Ho's Memorial House.

Nguyen Doan Van, head of the Hanoi Historical Relic Site Management Board, said that the sites will continue strictly conforming to Covid-19 prevention measures.

All visitors will be provided with temperature check and hand wash. They are also asked to wear a mask. Besides, information boards about Covid-19 prevention guidelines are also placed at the entrance and around the sites.

Hoa Lo Prison has offered visitors stories about 35 outstanding people related to the site’s history, using the automatic interpretation system. The spot will also reopen with the exhibition “Aspiration for Freedom” with three thematic areas including The Chains, Flying in the Midst of the Night and the Peace Song.

Dang Van Bieu, deputy head of the prison management board, said that the first 500 visitors to the site would be offered gifts.

Thong Long Citadel will receive a maximum of 30 guests per time to ensure the safety distance for Covid-19 prevention. Visitors are also provided with masks and hand wash. The site also offers free parking.
