Hanoians earn big in Lily flower season
Many households in Hanoi's outlying district of Hoai Duc are earning big during the Lily blooming season.
The Lily flowers once a year. Growers must plant the bulbs of these flowers in September and harvest the flower in April of the following year.
People in Ha Mo Commune in Hoai Duc District are busy collecting Lily flowers.
Tung from the village said that his family has a total of 1,800 square metres of Lillies. Every day, they pick up around 2,000-3,000 flowers. Each bunch is sold at VND100,000-150,000 to traders.
Flowers are classified before being sold.
Lily flowers were just grown in Tay Tuu Ward in Bac Tu Liem. But over the past ten years, people in Tay Tuu have leased land in Ha Mo to plant this kind of flower.
Many households have installed automatic watering and lighting systems to take care of the flower.
With proper care, a cluster of Lillies can produce 4-5 flowers.
