The beginning of this school year is special because it coincided with a resolution concerning education by the 11th National Party Congress.

Kindergarten children in Hanoi

More than 22 million students nation-wide begin a new school year today September 5. Of the number, more than 3.7 million children are registered to kindergarten, over 15.1 million to high school, and more than 3.2 thousand students to college and university.

The 2011-2012 school-year will be of great significance as it coincided with the first year of the 11th National Party Congress Resolution.

President Truong Tan Sang wrote a letter that praised the efforts of educators and students. The letter gave special mention to outstanding students and teachers in remote areas and islands, who overcome difficulties in pursuit of study.

He also said that reform of the education system at all levels is vital to meet the future need for human resources in the country.
