Vietnamese students win Erasmus Mundus scholarships

The European Commission has selected 35 Vietnamese graduates for Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Numerous Vietnamese graduates have been awarded with the Erasmus Mundus scholarships

Of the total, 31 students have been awarded scholarships worth up to EUR48,000 (USD66,254) as maximum for attending university courses in the EU, while four selected scholars will receive a fellowship of EUR129,900 (USD179,362) for a maximum period of three years in Europe.

Each of the selected students can attend one of 123 master degree courses.

The selected students will study in one of the 27 EU Member States giving them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with European lifestyles, cultures and languages.

In the meantime, the awarded four scholars will carry out teaching and research assignments in Europe as well as contribute to the ‘Erasmus Mundus’ Master Degree Courses.

In addition, for the 2011-2012 academic year, a Vietnamese institution – the National Institute of Animal Science in Hanoi in association with Wageningen University of the Netherlands was selected to organise an Erasmus Mundus Master Course on Sustainable Animal Nutrition and Feeding.

Since 2004, almost 260 Vietnamese students and scholars have been awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships.

Erasmus Mundus is a EC’s Scholarships and Academic Cooperation Programme that aims to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic co-operation between Europe and the rest of the world.
