On September 25, The MoF issued Resolution No. 2367, which will provide more funding from the Poverty Reduction Support Credit to the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to help low-income students.

Aside from over VND1 trillion (USD53 million) in preferential loans provided to students in 2012, the Government has pledged an additional VND1.5 trillion for 2013.

The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies will co-operate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to disburse the funds.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, 2,379,785 students from 1,913,804 households have been given preferential loans at VND1 million per month for each student.

Nguyen Huy Cuong, a student from Nghe An Province shared, "My family income totally depends on growing rice. Even though my family has been saving, my tuition is still a heavy burden, so I'm glad to know that the Government is helping people in my situation."

Le Thi Kim Dung, Director of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in Ha Nam Province, Ly Nhan District, said that they are ready to disburse the money, "Our bank loans out VND20 billion each school year. This year we have already identified families who qualify and are informing them on how to apply for these loans."
