He said the Party and State have devised the comprehensive restructuring the education sector needs to meet the demands of the country’s industrialisation and modernisation process. 

At an earlier meeting with ethnic minority students, Sang praised their accomplishments and urged them to continue studying hard towards making tangible contributions to the development of their communities and the nation as a whole.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc used a November 16 ceremony in Hanoi to reiterate the President’s praise for ethnic minority students with outstanding national exam scores and school grades.

He also acknowledged the education and training sector’s attention to education in ethnic minority communities. In addition to improving teaching standards generally, educators working in mountainous regions have tried to nurture talented ethic students, encouraging their attempts to overcome any difficulties and achieve high academic results.

Phuc said the Party and State are well aware of educational development’s importance to the nation and work constantly to ensure it receives the attention it deserves.

He echoed President Sang’s plaudits for the Ministry of Education and Training’s initiative and reforms. The Deputy PM credited educators nationwide with cultivating the intellecutal capabilities, job skills, and confidence that fuels socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

Nong Quoc Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, reported 105 ethnic minority students achieved outstanding results in national gifted student examinations for the 2012–2013 academic year.

He said the committee is working closely with ministries and social organisations to increase investment in mountainous regions and ethnic minority community education, narrowing the educational gap between mountainous and the lowland areas.
