A new version of an e-book device has been launched in Vietnam as part of the effort to promote education reform in the country.

The new version of Classbook is an e-book device that contains over 300 textbooks approved under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)’s programmes for students ranging from the 1st to the 12th grade. The Classbook was launched in Hanoi this morning, April 18.

Classbook makes teaching and learning easier

The device is aimed at keeping Vietnamese students from having to carry multiple books to school as well as facilitate their studies with several reference materials including videos and extra exercises.

The e-book is also expected to help renovate educational methodology in the country by supporting interaction between students and teachers as well as among students themselves.

The device has two different versions, one for students and another for teachers.

One of the programmes, “Shaping The Way We Teach English”, is a video-based training product for English language educators by Oregon University. It was translated into Vietnamese to assist training Vietnamese teachers with the support from the US Embassy in Vietnam as well as the National Foreign Language 2020 Project.

The Classbook is the outcome of the joint effort from the MoET, the Education Publishing House, the US Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnam National University – Hanoi’s University of Foreign Languages and International Studies and Intel Vietnam Company.

The first version of Classbook was launched in 2012, attracting around 10,000 users nationwide.

The device part of education reform plan drafted under the MoET’s Education Development Strategy for the 2011-2020, and in response to initiatives for the programme “PC for Life” from the Ministry of Information and Communications.
