Education deemed best field of co-operation with Japan

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Hiroshi Hase, Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, in Hanoi on May 4, describing education as the countries’ best co-operation realm.

He expressed his delight at the two countries’ signing of the strategic co-operation programme on education while highlighting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Educational collaboration has been brought to fruition, he said, noting that there are increasing numbers of Vietnamese and Japanese students in each country.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training signed agreements with 17 universities in Japan on support and tuition fee reduction for students. The two Governments have also actively carried out training programmes to help Vietnam increase manpower and expertise.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Japanese minister to press on with the strategic co-operation programme on education, supporting Vietnam in human resources development, boosting affiliation between the nations’ universities, and fostering the partnership in scientific research.

He regarded the profound relationship between the two peoples as significant for expanding their cultural ties upon.

On the occasion, the leader also expressed sympathy for Japan due to the heavy damage sustained by the recent earthquake. He highly values the Japanese people’s spirit during infrastructure rebuilding and life stabilisation.
