EU helps increase employability for graduates
The European Union (EU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training launched a project on employability for graduates yesterday in Hanoi.
As part of the "European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students" (ERASMUS) programme, the project worth EUR1.5 million (US$ 1.6 million) is hoped to better higher education and post-graduate training in Vietnam to meet increasing demand for high-quality personnel.
The project, running for three years, aims to provide students with advice and career orientations, towards minimising unemployment, while helping improve the competitiveness and quality of Vietnamese universities.
Beneficiaries of the project include the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs and five Vietnamese universities, namely National Economics University, Hanoi University of Industry, Huế University, HCM City University of Technology, and HCM City University of Technology and Education.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bùi Văn Ga said human resources training, particularly high-quality human resources, to meet market demand was an important factor to promote the development of the country in the near future.
The project is expected to help enhance the quality of undergraduate and master’s training in Vietnam and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese universities, he said. The rate of employability of graduates was among the key factors in ranking universities in the region and the world, he said.
Vietnam is working to renovate education and training, towards improving the quality of human resources and labour productivity in the context of international integration, he said.
The Vietnamese Government is implementing a project to improve labour productivity with the aim of achieving greater growth. The Prime Minister has issued a national education qualifications framework compatible with the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework, laying a foundation for higher education institutions to build appropriate training programmes, helping graduates find jobs.
