Vietnam wins four gold medals at Asia Pacific math contest

Four Vietnamese pupils won gold medals at the 2017 Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS 2017), placing the country in the third after Singapore and Taiwan.

The Vietnamese team participating APMOPS 2017 consists of six students from Hanoi and one from HCM City. Among those, Hoang Ngoc Bao Khue, Pham Viet Hung, Nguyen Huy Nam and Le Duc Anh secured gold medals.

Hoang Ngoc Bao Khue finished fourth in the contest’s top ten pupils with the highest marks.

APMOPS 2017 was held in Singapore on May 25-28, attracting the participation of 216 students representing 12 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2015, Vietnam finished second with six gold medals and four students in the top 10 and the country ranked first with six gold medals and five students in the top 10 in 2016.
