Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Ngo Thi Hoa said that the class aims to nurture the mother language of Vietnamese children who are born in the host country, ensuring that they remember their roots, and strengthening communication among the Vietnamese community abroad.

She expressed her hope that the Vietnamese families would encourage their children to take part in the class, saying that the parents play an important role in helping their children to integrate into the training course.

Pham Van Dinh, whose child will attend the class, conveyed his gratitude to the Embassy and the Foreign Ministry's State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs for organising the course, which he described as a special gift for them.

16-year-old Lam My, a student of the class, said that she wants to learn Vietnamese so that she would be able to communicate with her Vietnamese friends, while joining the Foreign Ministry's summer camp for young overseas Vietnamese.

In the 2017-2018 school year, the class is expected to attract the participation of 10 students aged between 6 and 16. The students will be taught to be able to read and write in Vietnamese and communicate in their mother tongue.
