Singapore's Kinderworld Education Group has announced plans to open a branch in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The Kinderworld school in Can Tho, which has an investment of nearly VND200 billion (USD9.1 million), will be located at a 2.5-hectare site in Ninh Kieu District. The school is designed to serve 1,300 students.

The first phase of the project is expected to become operational in August 2018 with 19 classrooms, a multi-functional meeting hall, playgrounds and labs which are enough for 450 students.

At the press conference to announce the project on April 17, vice chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam, said that Can Tho City, which is the centre of the Mekong Delta region, always wants to attract foreign investment. However, one of the city’s difficulties is the lack of an international school for investors’ children to study at.

According to Nam, to date, KinderWorld Education has opened more than 10 schools in Vietnam.
