Vietnamese students win six medals at International Math Olympiad

All six Vietnamese students brought home medals, including one gold, two silver and three bronze medals, at the 59th International Mathematics Olympiad in Romania, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

The gold medal was won by Nguyen Quang Bin, a 12th grade student from the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students.


Pham Minh Duc, an 11th grade student from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School and Trinh Van Hoan, a 12th grader from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students in the northern port city of Hai Phong, bagged the silver medals.

The three bronze medals were secured by Tran Viet Hoang, also from Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students of Hai Phong; Truong Manh Tuan from the Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students; and Do Hoang Viet from Nguyen Quang Dieu High School for Gifted Students in the southern province of Dong Thap.

The Ministry of Education and Training will hold a welcome ceremony for the team at Noi Bai International Airport on July 15.
