Vietnamese universities named in QS world ranking

Two Vietnamese universities have been listed in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2020.

Among 1,001 universities of 82 countries and territories in the rankings, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City is in the top 701-750, while Vietnam National University-Hanoi is in the top 801-1,000.

  

The two Vietnamese universities in the rankings

This is the second time Vietnam has universities in the QS World University Rankings.

The assessment is based on six criteria, including international faculty, faculty-student, employer reputation, academic reputation, overall score and citations per faculty.

Among those, academic reputation accounts for 40% of the total points, followed by faculty-student and citations per faculty with 20% each, employer reputation with 10% and the remainders with 5% each.

The US’ Massachusetts Institute of Technology stands in the first position of the rankings, followed by Stanford and Harvard universities. The runners-up are Oxford University, California Institute of Technology and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Singapore comes first in the Asia rankings when its two universities named Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore securing the 11th position.

China has 11 universities named in the list with Tsinghua University posting the 16th.

Australia has 35 universities in the top 1,000 of the rankings.
