Visiting delegates include policy makers, representatives from non-governmental organisations, and members of the private sector who work in the field of education for sustainable development and global citizenship education.

The education forum is running with the theme of ‘Learning and Teaching for Peaceful and Sustainable Societies: From early childhood to primary and secondary education’.

The main focus of the UNESCO Forum will be on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED), two key programmes necessary to achieve Target 4.7 of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Education.

Over the course of the two- day event, the UNESCO will be launching a study on how the three learning dimensions of ESD and GCED, cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioural, are reflected in the curriculums of pre-primary, primary education (PE), and secondary education (SE) levels in 10 countries from across the world.

The UNESCO Forum will provide a platform in which participants can exchange experience and innovative approaches on how best to address the gaps in the curriculums. Moreover, attendees will be able to learn how to fully harness the potential of the three domains of learning across all levels, in order to support sustainable development and global citizenship.

The forum has been organised by UNESCO in co-operation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, and the Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO under the sponsorship of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
