Vietnam sent 15 gifted students from Hanoi-based Hanoi-Amsterdam School to compete in the under 14 category and the 14 to 17 year old competition.

In the individual contest, the team won four gold and five silver medals, and one consolidation prize. In the team contest, they won two champion cups, one first and two second prizes.

Đỗ Hoàng Quốc Bảo, a 9th grader who won a gold medal in the individual contest, said this year’s exam was different to previous years, requiring the candidates to use creativity and analysis skills to complete the contest.

This was the fourth time Bảo has joined the competition.

Vietnam has been participating in the competition since 2011.
