HCM City has planned to spend around VND3.8 billion (USD165,217) to install surveillance cameras at local childcare facilities.

The facilities are those located in areas which are home to industrial parks and export processing zones.

According to Ly Thi Suong, deputy head of the municipal Department of Education and Training’s Vice Preschool Education Board, the survey on household daycare centres around the city’s industrial and export processing zones have been finished to prepare for the work.

Around 60 private daycare facilities will benefit from the camera installation and toy and school supplies, mostly focusing on the districts Thu Duc, Tan Phu, Tan Binh and Nha Be.

The facilities are expected to get the toy and school supplies early next month.

In case, any private daycare facilities are dissolved, their camera and facilities must be redistributed to other centres.

The programme was proposed after the child abuse at Mam Xanh Day Care Centre in District late 2017.

The city police arrested and prosecuted the owner of a local daycare centre for slapping, kicking, punching and threatening the children with a knife.
