The President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), Vu Xuan Hong on January 10 received a delegation of 13 professors, and experts from New York University on an official visit to Vietnam from January 3-17.

During the reception, Mr Hong briefed the delegation on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US, especially in the field of economics, trade, education and training.

Being a nation with young population, Vietnam has always attached importance to training and education. The number of Vietnamese students in the US has kept increasing in recent times.

Mr Hong expressed hope that universities in the two countries will continue strengthen exchange and cooperation programmes to meet the requirements of both sides.

Professor Michael Edward Kress and members of the delegation expressed wishes to learn more about Vietnam’s development strategy and opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam in the field of education and training.
