The programme, Open BOOK, is intended to promote the free flow of information in Vietnamese society. The number of books will gradually increase in the coming years.

Users will be able to access Open BOOK on internet or through certain mobile devices.

According to the agreement, FPT will finance the library system, along with technical support and IT maintenance.

The group will also undertake negotiations on acquiring the copyrights of documents used in the system, as well as will provide storage and transmission services.

In the meantime, VNU will assign librarians to help sort out and arrange documents properly in addition to providing the copyrights to all its documents and literature.

Documents used for the Open BOOK will be collected from both domestic and foreign sources in order to diversify study materials as well as making it more useful for learners.

Currently, FPT is the leading IT and telecom firm in the nation. In 2006, the group set up FPT University with an aim of training a labour force highly skilled in IT, electronics, and telecom services.
