An exhibition collecting public opinions on the selection of Vietnam’s national flower closed in Ho Chi Minh City on June 12.

The pink lotus flower topped the voting list, with 71.1 percent, followed by the apricot flower (18.16 percent), the peach flower (6.71 percent), and other flowers (3.97 percent), said the organisers.

The pink lotus flower also won a majority vote in favour on the website of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (62.2 percent), followed by the peach flower (15.8 percent), and the apricot flower (14.5 percent).

Nguyen Van Tan, an official from the ministry, said the most prospective candidate would be submitted to the National Assembly for approval as the national flower.
