The awards ceremony for a student photo contest portraying environmental issues was held on May 31, which granted 11 prizes for best works.

"Flood season" by Nguyen Vinh Hien from Can Tho University

This contest featured "Rising sea levels", and was held by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and Sinh Vien Vietnam (Vietnamese Students) Newspaper.  More than 200 photos taken by amateur student photographers from across the country featured.

Around 50 works were selected for the final round by the European Union to Vietnam, and were posted on the official Facebook page to receive reader comments.

Vu Huyen, photographer and former Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, said, “All photos selected for the final round were technically proficient and showed unique angles on the modern environmental dilemma we all face."

The theme of “Rising sea levels” is very interesting, and also posed challenges to the contestants, who had to spend time observing and researching the effects of this problem to the country and the world. The winning works needed to show both thought and technical proficiency.

The first prize was given to Nguyen Vinh Hien from Can Tho University for the photo “Flood season”. The organiser also granted two second prizes, three third prizes, as well as several honourable mentions.
