Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who are working and living in Vietnam have been invited to join a photo contest themed ‘Living in harmony with nature’.

'For Clean Water Resources' by Tran Minh Hoang, the grand prize winner in the sanitation category of the Water and Sanitation Photo Contest.

The contest was launched recently by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

It aims to raise public awareness of the importance of the environment to all of humankind, therefore calling for joint efforts and practical actions in an effort to protect the environment and develop a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

The entries should display the natural beauty of Vietnam and it’s ecological diversity, the people’s relationship and interactions with nature, as well as efforts and achievements made to safeguard the environment and adapt to climate change.

The photos should also capture the current impacts of environmental pollution to humankind’s health and daily life, while criticising bad behaviours that cause negative impacts on the environment.

Entrants should email their photos, which must be taken between 2015 and 2017, to ongkinhmoitruong@gmail.com, no later than October 10, 2017.

One gold, two silver and three bronze awards, as well as nine consolation prizes worth VND 36 million (US$1,600) in total, will be awarded to best entries at a ceremony scheduled in Hanoi in November this year.

All entries submitted to the contest will be posted on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ongkinh.moitruong, and the five entries with the largest number of likes and shares as of 17:00 October 20, 2017 will be honoured with certificates of merit and VND 2 million each.

The organising board will also select 100 outstanding photos to display at an forthcoming exhibition.
