Shameless owner seeks to use illegal construction for tourism
A man in Danang City has proposed to local authorities that he should keep his illegally constructed palace in Lien Chieu District as he believes it could be a tourism site.
However, he only demolished a small part of the palace and kept asking to extend the deadline. Currently, a third of the palace still remains. The Danang People's Committee then decided to halt the demolition to wait for a prime ministerial directive.
In August 2015, Quang asked for permission to keep the palace and turn it into a tourism site. Two months later, the General Department of Land Management under the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry set up an inspection team to review the land and worked with the city authorities in November.
On June 15, Dam Quang Hung, chairman of Lien Chieu District, said Quang had submitted an official letter to convert the palace. "We'll check the site and gather opinions from relevant agencies as well as the locals," he said.
Hung went on to say that they had destroyed illegally-built constructions in the palace. The fencing wall and paths will be destroyed last. Moreover, the forest land was also converted for other usages in the past years so the proposal can be considered.
