Thousands of people in San Francisco marched to call for urgent actions to reduce the world’s reliance on fossil fuels and increase green energy on September 8. People in many other countries such as South Africa and Brazil also joined the event.

In Vietnam, the Centre of Hands-on Action and Networking for Growth and Environment (CHANGE) under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) has held various activities to respond to the campaign.

CHANGE has co-operated with partners to produce the Rise for Climate music video with the participation of many Vietnamese artists, including Thanh Bui, Hoang Bach and Bich Ngoc.

Musician Thanh Bui said that he wanted to make some contributions to the fight against climate change, particularly Vietnam is among the countries hardest hit by this.

CHANGE also worked with Soul Academy to hold a music competition on September 10-23. Through this, young people can sing songs and then make a clip about this by themselves.

Some forums about environmental protection and climate change will be organised at universities along with flash mob dances scheduled to take place in HCM City, An Giang, Can Tho and several others.
