Hanoi races rainy season to deal with flood-prone areas
Hanoi Sewerage and Drainage Limited Company reported on April 19 that Hanoi still has 13 flood-prone spots that needed to be dealt with before the storm season.
"People still dump rubbish near rainwater and storm conduits," said Hoang Manh Ha, head of the drainage operation office.
Vo Tien Hung, director of Hanoi Sewerage and Drainage Limited Company, said even though the areas would still be flooded this year, the time they are affected would be reduced because they had dredged, upgraded and cleaned the sewers. However, there were many difficulties such as slow disbursement.
This year, the company will improve the drainage speed. They have also completed preparations for the coming storm season.
