The PAM air quality system put at 60 locations in Hanoi also reported the same situation at many areas at 6:00 am on November 12, including Hang Quat Street in Hoan Kiem District.

The air quality index over 100 is considered bad and people with respiratory and heart diseases are advised to stay home. If the indexes are from 200 to 300 then everyone is affected and advised to stay indoors.

Since late August this year, Hanoi has experienced four instances of severe air pollution with the cases lasting from late September to early October being the hardest-hit.

Air pollution is experienced in many northern localities such as Haiphong City, the provinces of Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh and Thai Binh and even the mountainous localities of Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen.

The Vietnam Environment Administration has warned that Hanoi’s PM2.5 index has been on the rise, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. People should not open doors at this time and not do morning exercises. Masks should be used for them to go out.

Residents are advised to regularly check air quality.
