A new cold spell to hit the Northern Region

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air is moving southwards and will reach Vietnam on February 7. The northeast will be affected first, followed by the north-central coast and the central coast.

The north will get light to heavy rains since morning. At night, the central coast will have heavy rains. The temperatures in northern mountainous areas will drop to 10-14 degrees and to 14-17 degrees in the delta.

The mainland will have the northeast wind on February 7. The Gulf of Tonkin will have strong cold winds until February 10.

Hanoi will also experience low temperatures and rains in the mornings and at nights. The estimated temperatures are from 14-19 degrees.

Cold spells will continue to arrive in February since it is the last month of the meteorological winter but both the duration and severity are much milder than in previous years.
