Due to the influence of a western low pressure combined with southwest winds, Northern and Central provinces are witnessing fierce heat today with common temperatures of 35-38C. High temperatures of over 40C are predicted to hit provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri.

Temperatures of over 35C will last from 10-18 hours per day with the lowest humidity levels of the day at about 30-50%.

Hanoi also suffers scorching heat today with highest temperatures of 37-39C. The UV index in Hanoi and Da Nang is predicted at 8-10 which means a very high risk of harm to the human body from unprotected sun exposure.

The heat wave in Northern and Central regions is forecast to last until early July.

Due to intense and prolonged heat associated with low humidity and strong southwest winds, the NCHMF has warned of a high risk of forest fires in Northern and Central provinces.
