Traffic chaos on HCM City streets following heavy rain

Many streets in Ho Chi Minh City have been seriously flooded following heavy rain, causing traffic congestion on Friday morning.

The rain which lasted from 3am-6am brought rainfall of over 100mm in some areas in Thu Duc City, and Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts.

The rain with strong wind also felled many trees on some streets including Truong Chinh, Nguyen Van Qua, and Cong Hoa. This had affected traffic on those streets during the rush morning hours.

Heavy rains and strong winds had also been reported on Thursday afternoon in HCM City.


Climate expert Le Thi Xuan Lan said that the rainy season is arriving earlier than usual, probably in early May, in HCM City. Now it is transitional period which often sees dangerous weather phenomenon including heavy rains with whirlwinds and thunder.
