Thua Thien-Hue protective forest destroyed by illegal miners
A protective forest in Thua Thien-Hue Province's Nam Dong District has been destroyed by illegal gold exploiters.
When the authorities arrived, the miners had already ran away, abandoning many tunnels, tents and equipment.
Le Thanh Ho, the vice-chairman of Nam Dong District People's Committee, said there were about 30 miners working at the sites, mostly from Thai Nguyen Province.
The authorities have made plans to destroy the tunnels and equipment.
