Many areas in Quynh Luu District in the central Nghe An Province have been deeply submerged following torrential rains, causing major damage.

This is the first flooding in Nghe An this year. According to Quynh Luu People's Committee, 589 houses were submerged and 41 households left isolated. Over 4,660 livestock were swept away and over 1,000 ha of crops were damaged. About 222ha of fish farms and 71ha of shrimp farms were also damaged.

The flooding also caused freshwater shortages so locals have had to buy bottled water.

Quynh Hong Commune People's Committee have quickly provided clean water and food to isolated households.

The floodwater in Quynh Luu District is slowly receding.
