Lam Dong proposed using forest land for road construction

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has recommended using 7.6 hectares of forest to build a road section.

The department has asked the provincial people’s committee to send the proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development before being submitted to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for consideration.

 

The area proposed for building the road section

The forest area located in Bidoup Nui Ba National Park will serve in the construction of the remaining section of Truong Son Dong Road project.

Once approved by the prime minister, local authorities will quickly complete investment procedures to start the project.

The Truong Son Dong Road project has a total investment capital of VND10 trillion (USD437.1 million), stretching 671 kilometres through seven central and Central Highlands provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Phu Yen, Dak Lak and Lam Dong.

Roughly 540 kilometres of the road have been finished, linking the five provinces of Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Phu Yen and Dak Lak.

The project is funded by the General Staff Department under the Ministry of Defence. The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has recommended using 7.6 hectares of natural forest to build a road section.
