WB funds medical insurance for near poor

Near-poor people in the north central region of Vietnam are expected to receive medical insurance cards soon with financial support from the World Bank.

Under the project, launched in Thua Thien-Hue Province on May 12 for near poor individuals who live just above the poverty line, beneficiaries will only pay 20 percent of the costs as 30 percent come from the project itself and 50 percent from the state budget.

In regard to near-poor families, the targeted population will pay 10 percent of the costs as 40 percent are covered by the project and 50 percent subsidised by the state budget.

Thua Thien-Hue province alone is home to more than 17,000 near poor families with a total of more than 68,000 members.
