Songs for AO victims to be awarded

Twenty one songs about Agent Orange victims selected from 172 entries will be awarded in a ceremony at the Cultural Friendship Palace in Hanoi in late June.

This was announced by the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) and the Vietnam Composers’ Association at a press conference in the capital city on June 2 .

There will be a first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, 10 consolation and 5 impressive prizes.

Six month after the composition contest was launched, the organizing board receive 172 entries, including two from abroad, said VAVA Chairman Nguyen Van Rinh.

Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Composers’s Association, said that this is a humanitarian contest with most songs featuring the community’s sympathy for AO victims.

All these awarded pieces will be performed and broadcast live on VTV1, VTV4 and local radio and TV stations on June 25.
