A number of Vietnamese celebrities have joined the "One Photo One Action" campaign, whose purpose is to raise environmental awareness.

The idea of the campaign is that, when it comes to education about these issues, pictures can be more powerful than words. One Photo One Action invites well-known figures to take a photographs with environmental messages.

The images are then disseminated in a variety of ways, for example some of them are used to decorate environmentally friendly hand bags.

The campaign previously had about 10 celebrities who agreed to act as ambassadors, including actors Thanh Loc, Truong Minh and Quoc Thai, models Ha Anh and Tien Doan and singers Duc Tuan, Khanh Linh, Tung Duong, 365 Band and MC Viet Nga.

Singers Hoang Thuy Linh, Uyen Linh, Van Mai Huong, Thu Minh, and Dance Sport champion Khanh Thi have become the newest ambassadors of the campaign, which was launched in July.

The programme also includes photo book, as well as sponsoring groups working on environment-related projects.

Programme organiser Nomura Shimao, chief representative of Canon Singapore in Vietnam, said that they were receiving a large amount of support from celebrities.

"This shows that we are not alone in our efforts. We believe that young people in Vietnam soon will show their initiative when it comes to environmental issues, and will begin to come up with practical ways to protect their surroundings."

Until the end of the year, the products created by the One Photo One Action, such as the handbags and photo books, will be used to promote youth groups who are active on this issue nationwide.
