The couple who operated Minh Duc Shrimp Farm and are accused of repeatedly torturing Nguyen Hao Anh, could face from 10 years in prison to even life.

Nguyen Van Tuoi, Police Deputy Director of Ca Mau Province said that they have recently received request documents from relevant authorities demanding the police department to propose heavy disciplinary actions to those who were involved in the torture of Nguyen Hao Anh. According to Tuoi, the crime that Huynh Thanh Giang and Ma Ngoc Thom committed is extremely serious.

Ca Mau police are currently reviewing the case to change the charges against the accused couple from frame 3 to frame 4 in the Clause 104 of the Vietnamese Criminal Law Code, in which the final sentence could range from a 10 year prison term to life imprisonment, all depending on the seriousness of the crime.

Previously, the couple had been charged with frame 2 for "torture" and frame 3 for "intentionally causing injuries".

Hao Anh continues to be looked after by doctors and nurses at the Police Clinic of Ca Mau Province.
