An infant child who has been abandoned twice is under treatment at the Central Pediatrics Hospital.

Le Quang Anh abandoned twice

Le Quang Anh was abandoned by his natural mother three days after he was born on March 18 at the Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital.

An infertile couple decided to adopt him. One month later, Anh was taken to hospital for medical checkups at the Central Pediatrics Hospital after suffering from fever and coughing.

Doctors concluded that Anh had symptoms of being exposed to the HIV virus, which the couple was unaware of before their adoption. The little boy’s adoptive parents decided to abandon him at the hospital three days after receiving the bad news.

The two-month-old child is at the hospital to undergoing continued treatment as he still has fever, coughing and a skin disease.

Some kind- people have taken the opportunity to provide care for him.

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong paying a quick visit to Anh at hospital

Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, a young mother who knew about Anh’s situation via online social networks, especially Facebook, has paid to visit to Anh and has bottle fed the baby.

“I’m a mother of two little children. I really couldn't think of Anh being alone. I decided to pay him a visit when I have free time. I feel really sorry for his unfortunate situation as he’s innocent,” Huong commented.

Doctor Pham Nhat An, Deputy Director of the Central Pediatrics Hospital cum head of the Infectious Diseases Ward at the hospital said they often witness cases where infant children infected with HIV are abandoned by their parents every year.

“I was a bit surprised when Quang Anh received so much attention while both his natural mother and his adoptive parents felt they had to abandon him,” An said.

According to the doctor, the little child’s health is relatively good and he could be discharged from the hospital in the next few days.

“We planned to co-ordinate with Hanoi municipal Department of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs to send him to the Ba Vi Social Sponsoring Centre in the outlying Hanoi district of Ba Vi where provides care for children who are abandoned and are HIV positive,” An noted.

He has rash on skin

He added that as Anh is in desperate need of love and care, the hospital’s leaders have facilitated benefactors to visit the little boy daily. However, many people are wary about visiting the infectious diseases ward.

Online supporters are providing updated information about the baby’s health, visit him in turns and are trying to find a suitable solution to support him in the time to come.

The money raised by Dan Tri readers will support the treatment of Quang Anh in accordance with requests from the Ba Vi Social Sponsoring Centre and provide a monthly allowance for his treatment.
