DTiNews supports flood victims in Nghe An

DTiNews and a club of correspondents in Nghe An Province (Rclub Nghe An) have cooperated to give an additional VND320 million (USD15,238) to flood victims in the province’s Hoang Mai Town.

The recent flood swept through the town completely submerging many houses and causing a great loss.

Rclub Nghe An has launched a programme named “Joining hands to support the flood victims” in order to call on donors’ assistance. One week after the programme launched, the club and DTiNews have provided routes for donors to help victims, who received a total of VND320 million, including VND80 million (USD3,809) in cash.

Donors and more than 20 reporters in the province went to communes of Hoang Mai to deliver the cash and food donations. They also stopped at Quynh Lap Village, which is home to hundreds of leprosy patients.

The club also presented 40 gifts worth VND500,000 to each student at Quynh Trien Secondary School, which suffered losses of VND300-400 million due to the typhoon.

Nguyen Huy Tuy, Chairman of Hoang Mai Town People’s Committee, said that more than 15,000 households were flooded causing a total loss of VND840 billion (USD40 million).
