A poor couple in Danang City is seeking help to save their five-month-old boy who is struggling with many serious diseases.
The boy, Le Huu Gia Long, has congenital heart disease, hepatitis and hydrocephalus, which causes him to have an abnormally large head.
The young mother, Pham Xuan Thao, said she and her husband got married in 2013 and then had Long, who was born prematurely, weighing only 1.4kg. He immediately needed to be put on a breathing machine and had to stay at hospital for two months before being allowed to return home. During Tet, Thao and her son had to welcome the new year at hospital until the fourth day of the first lunar month.

Nonetheless, just days after returning home, the couple had to take their son back to the hospital for a medical check-up and was diagnosed with many other serious diseases.
Now, the boy must undergo surgery to survive, but due to the bad health, the operation has been delayed until he reaches six kilogrammes. He is now being given treatment for hepatitis.

Since Long was born, the couple has had to stop working to take care of him, pushing them into an even more difficult situation. They have had to borrow money just to buy food.
