A school in mountainous area of Lai Chau Province is in need of help to improve the conditions for its students.

 Na Coc Educational Facility

Na Coc Educational Facility in Tan Uyen Town has 46 nursery and 76 primary school students. Recently, two classrooms built in 1995 collapsed and makeshift rooms had to be erected.

Because the rooms do not have four walls, students are exposed to the winter weather. Teachers try their best to cover these areas with fabric.

 Dilapidated classrooms

Thoa, a teacher at Na Coc, said, "We want a warmer classrooms for the children but don't know where to find the funds. It's worst when nap time comes."

The school has trouble even providing lunch for the students Teachers have to use meat sparingly so that each student can have a little bit. According to the school, the monthly tuition is only VND10,000 (USD0.48), but because money is so scarce many families are delinquent.

 Inside a classroom

The only building that remains intact was built in 1995 and looks like it might collapse anytime. There are no toilets. The nearest ones do not have water.

Despite the harsh conditions, both teachers and students do their best with what they have.
