A mother and daughter in the northern province of Ha Nam have been stricken with cancer and need help.

But Dao Thi Vai, in Thanh Liem District, said priority should go to her three-year-old daughter, Lai Thi Ngoc Linh, who was diagnosed with leukemia last year. Earlier this year, Vai was found to have breast cancer.
Her husband is a farm worker, but when he broke his leg last year, they had to borrow from relatives and neighbours to pay Linh's medical bills. The debt is growing as the medical costs mount. The family is among the poorest in Hoa Ngai Village. They cannot afford more treatment for Vai.
Dinh Thi Kim Lien, from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said Linh was in very serious condition.
Vai said she wanted to halt her own treatment because her daughter was more important.
