Dao Hong Tuyen, the boss of the Tuan Chau Group, is providing free shelter and food for flood victims at his hotels and is auctioning his Rolls Royce Phantom to fund further support.

Flood victims provided free shelter and food at hotels

Tuan Chau, based in Quang Ninh Province issued a public announcement on July 31.

People who have lost their homes in the recent floodings will be given shelter and food at various three- and four-star hotels in the tourism centre of Tuan Chau Island.

Chief executive Tuyen said the company was making available about 1,000 rooms and dining halls that can serve up to 10,000 people. Those in need should contact his secretary, Tran Lien, on 0986046677, for more details.

Tuyen transferred ownership of his Roll Royce Phantom on July 29 to Quang Ninh Newspaper, which will organise an auction to support flood victims. Bidding for the car opens at VND16bn.

Tuan Chau is an island on Ha Long Bay and well-known for its hotel resorts. It is a major tourism destination in Quang Ninh Province.

Torrential rain has caused VND1 trillion in losses to the local economy. Many houses have been swept away by flashfloods and landslides. At least 23 people have died.
