A 14-year-old girl in Nghe An Province is in calling for financial support to treat her mother who is suffering from serious injuries following an accident.

The wounds are getting worse 

Single mother Nguyen Thi Nga from Linh Son Commune has been bed-ridden after a truck ran over her leg 20 days ago.

Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City said she has a fractured pelvis, fractured femurs, a ruptured bladder and complicated perineal wounds which need long-term treatment.

"When we heard the news, we sold our cows and buffalo and put up the house as collateral for over VND200 million but it wasn't enough. In the end, we had to bring her home," Tran Thi Thanh, Nga's sister-in-law said, "Doctors said Nga can walk again but she will need lots of surgery which will cost hundreds of millions of dong."

Chau Thi Thanh Hang takes care of mother

Nga's insurance is unlikely to cover more than half of the medical costs. Nga's health is deteriorating and her wounds are getting worse.

According to Thanh, Nga and her daughter often caught shrimp and small fish for their daily meals. Recently, Nga worked as a labourer for a company in the south but the accident occurred before she was able to receive her first wages. Since she was brought home, her daughter has taken care of most of the housework.

"I'm afraid. I don't know where I'll live if my mother is gone. I can drop out and starve, I just want my mother," Nga's daughter, Chau Thi Thanh Hang, said.
