Dantri readers have helped build a house for a disabled man living alone in Ha Nam Province.

Ngo Trung Song lost his mother when he was seven. His father remarried but also died soon after. Because Song has suffered from atrophied muscles since he was small, he can't walk or be able to find work to support himself.

He has continued to receive his monthly disabled person's allowance but even this small money was partly stolen. He was supposed to receive VND270,000 (USD13), but instead has been receiving only VND180,000 after falling victim of an unscrupulous social services employee who is now facing criminal investigation.

New house nears completion

Living in a dilapidated house, Song's meals are mostly instant noodles. "I just dream of a family meal, even if it's only rice, I'd be more than satisfied," he said.

When hearing about his situation, charity groups and many readers helped him build a VND40 million house.

"Thanks to the readers I have been able to get this house built. This is like a huge fortune - more than I ever dreamt of," Song said, "I want to send my gratitude to all people who supported and helped me during these difficult times."
