A teenage girl in Ben Tre Province has had to leave school to support and care for her illness-ridden family, her fatrher battling throat cancer, her mother a stroke and her aunt suffering mental illness due to Agent Orange.

Huynh Thi Cam Duyen, 17, is the sole breadwinner for her family, and works in a clothing factory, earning about USD60 a month.

Doctors say her father needs intensive radiation therapy if he is to survive, but Duyen can't afford the medical costs.

She has borrowed VND20m so far to cover medical bills.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thanh, vice chairwoman of Binh Dai District's Red Cross, said the agency has called for local people's support for Duyen's family, but this is limited and she hopes donors will help them overcome their difficulties.
