A two year-old girl in Binh Phuoc Province is in desperate need of help to treat a large tumour on her face as the family is running out of money to support her treatment.

Gia Han suffers from malignant tumour that develops from epithelial cells, connective or other nonepithelial tissues since she was six months old. At first the tumour was small but it has continued to become bigger, causing her pain, covering her eye and make her unable to breathe through her nose.

Han is the third out of the four siblings. Her parents are farmers and often have to find odd jobs to support the whole family. Her mother has just given birth and has to stay home to take care of all children. Han's father is the sole breadwinner of the family.

The tumour covers her eye

He has borrowed as much as he can to pay for her chemotherapy sessions at the Paediatric Faculty of HCM City Oncology Hospital but the treatment seems to be useless due to Han's severe condition. Meanwhile Han can't be operated on because of weak health.

Ngo Thi Thanh Thuy, head of the Paediatric Faculty, said, "Chemotherapy is the only way to prolong her life. The chance that she can be cured is low."

"I feel shaky whenever a medicine that is not covered by Han's insurance appears. I don't know how we are going to keep buying medicines for her," Han's grandmother said.
