A mother in Bac Lieu Province is calling for financial support to save her son from a heart condition and other illnesses.

Nguyen Ngoc Tay, 27, suffers from a weak heart, asthma, high blood pressure and arthritis. Tay's mother, Nguyen Thi Xiu, said he was diagnosed with a heart condition a few years ago. But because they could not afford the operation, Tay has just stayed at home, but his health has worsened.

According to Xiu, two of her children left for other provinces to find work and cannot help much. She also has to take care of three children after Xiu's daughter divorced. Xiu and her husband grow and sell some vegetables to earn a few thousands of VND a day.

"My husband stays home to grow the vegetables and I go to the market so Tay stays in hospital alone. Each time the hospital called, I rushed to see him and that meant we weren’t able to sell anything on such days," Xiu said. "We admit him to hospital when we save up enough money and when it's spent, we bring him home."
